Pomp (2020)

 

Pomp began as LMnO3’s love-letter to and re-contextualization of themes from the work of modern dance icon, Pina Bausch, and has evolved into a work of epic proportions. No, seriously, epic--as in “a time beyond living memory in which occurred the extraordinary doings of the extraordinary men and women who, in dealings with the gods or other superhuman forces, gave shape to the moral universe for their descendants, the poet and his audience, to understand themselves as a people or nation” (thanks, Wikipedia). LMnO3 is dreaming bigger than they’ve ever dreamt before, with cardboard boxes, Grecian wigs, gold silk skirts, endless gratitude logs and the soundtracks from the blockbuster hits of our youth.
